Festival of Drama Contest 2014

To test the ability of foreign language among students, Condong Islamic Boarding School held an annual event called the Festival of Drama Contest (FDC). In this event participants are required to be able to show a drama performance by using two foreign languages are Arabic and English.

FDC organizers of this year came from class 1 of Condong Senior High School. And their tutor is me, so, of course I also took care of this annual event. The participants themselves came from Junior High School.

There are different things from the on going implementation of the FDC (17/04) this year. The different is the theme of the FDC itself inspired from Box Office movies which has an education lesson in it. Therefore, each class shall display the title of the drama according to Box Office movies that have been selected by the committee. Among others; Laskar Pelangi, Hafalan Shalat Delisa, Emak Ingin Naik Haji, Petualangan Sherina, Negeri 5 Menara, etc.. In addition, the stage and the background done by women students who are gifted in painting. The result is very satisfactory, although with minimal funds. Good job girls!

FDC event has been going on since a month ago. This is because the participants had to pass through several stages `rehearsal. Previously, each class had to make a play scenario refers to the movie, but from the start until the contents of the script title should use either one foreign language was Arabic or English. Afterwards, they will conduct a series of rehearsal are assessed by the judge. This purpose to monitor the extent to which children's readiness to lead drama performance later in the spectacular stage.

The event was held from Thursday noon to midnight Friday, and housed in Riyadlul Badi'ah yard. In terms of the readiness of the show Alhamdulillah everything went on smoothly and looks there’s some progress. MC looks good from formal and non-formal, welcoming speech from the chief of committee that accompanied the dancers, the stunning Grand Opening until the appearance of the participants were very entertaining. Yeah!

FDC Championships consist of Best Narrator, Best Actress, Best Property, Best Language, 1st and 2nd of each language, Favorite Winner and General Winner. Best Actress itself was won by Khoirunnisa from class VIII C who plays as Ekhsan in the drama title taree Zamen Par (Indian film produced Amir Khan). Acting Khoerunnisa very intriguing and entertaining. Meanwhile, the Best Language won by Rica from Class VIII A. Her English is very fluent in terms of pronunciation and accent. The general Winner of this year FDC come from class VIII C under the title Taare Zamen Par. Congratulations girls.

FDC event in the future hopefully could lead to be better than before. and can motivate the students to get used to using a foreign language in daily life at the school. In addition, students creativity may growing better. as accordance with the motto of this year's FDC, "Through language and creativity we color the world".[]
